Let me describe my afternoon to you.
I had planned to run by Kohl's (which is not close to my home, not close to my job and amazingly, not even on my route between those two places) and return a shower curtain. Walking out of school, I reached into my book bag and....no purse. It wasn't: under my desk, in my desk, in the trunk of my car, mixed in with my gym clothes, in the lost and found at school or stuck in the side of my car. It was nowhere to be found. So I took at deep breath and drove home. This is the part where you can learn about my brain...
I am a champion worrier. During the drive , I remembered that I hadn't put my new insurance papers in the car, so I managed to convince myself that I would: have a car accident, then not have my proof of insurance or driver's license and finish it all off by not being able to call since my cell phone was in my missing purse. (Now, in my defense, I'm a little nervous about accidents lately because I got partially run off the road on Friday by a dumb driver making a bad left hand turn into my lane. I only avoided an accident by driving UP ONTO the grass and sidewalk. God bless quick reflexes and the German engineering on the VW.) It was all I could do to breathe calmly as I drove home. I mentally listed what I had in my wallet. I planned which companies to call first. I was sadder about losing a good lipstick and a great new blush than I was about losing my credit card. I thought through the places in my house that I should look in for my purse.
Wasted energy? Of course. By the time my garage was three-quarters of the way up, I could see my purse on the floor of the garage. I've never been so happy to see one of my things on the floor.
On today's list of things to do:
1. Walk the dog. (I missed my class at the gym in all the excitement about the purse. In addition, it is finally just cold instead of bitterly, arctic cold. Tom and I will have to spend a half hour exploring the neighborhood.)
2. Really clean out my wallet and actually make a list of what's in it like all the people suggest. (I don't know why I carry cash. I hardly ever use it any more.)
PS. The blush is Almay Smart Shade Blush in pink. After reading on line, I'm going to try berry. I might even splurge and get it before I run out of the pink tube.
PSPS. The lipstick is Lancome Plum Spirit.

You know that I totally appreciate how your brain works because mine works pretty much the same way.
Love, your friend in neuroses,
