Moral: Always be prepared

I went to see my brother act in Arsenic and Old Lace last week. It was fun, but would have been SIGNIFICANTLY MORE FUN if the electricity has not gone out just before the end of Act 1. Total darkness is not so conducive to theater, so after about 15 minutes, they decided to cancel the show. After that, Shane ran around looking for flashlights to light various parts of the theater and I had one. Really. I've carried a flashlight in my school bag for about 10 years--since my windowless school in Colorado lost electricity about 8 times in one year. I have never needed my flashlight in the last decade, but never took it out because, well, you never know. I'm planning to keep my flashlight in my bag.
