Derek and I are both busy doing home chores today. I'm STILL cleaning the office. I'm organizing my new filing cabinet. No one but me would notice the difference it has made, but I feel infinitely better. I clean my files every year or so, but I have cleaned them really well since before I moved to Nebraska (which may mean that I've never cleaned them well). I'm looking through so many old papers and I'm a little amazed at how many documents I used to get with my social security number on them (and even a few with other people's number). I'm also amazed at the number of owner's manuals that I have--that's SO 20th century. I mean, now if I needed to find out something about a product I own, the first place I'd look is the internet.
Derek's job today has been painting the baby room. Actually, Derek's job last weekend was painting the baby room and today his job was repainting the baby room. We have agreed to have a green room; we picked a green that looked positively lovely at the store. In our home, however, the green looked horribly bright to me and the words "Bringing a baby to this room would be my first act of child abuse" were spoken by me. So we trekked back to the store today to find a more muted green. I was wary of trying green again (a nice taupe, maybe?), but he convinced me that the green one shade lighter that our original one would work. One of the brochures at the store showed a room with a dark color on the bottom half of the wall and a lighter one on top, so he decided to try that with our two greens. I LOVE it. It looks very HGTV. The light green was too light and the dark green was, well, a little too fluorescent pistachio for my taste, but together they are just right. I'm pretty excited.
