I’m trying to look on the bright side today. I hope that a little blogging will help me see the humor in a few things.
First, I made some curtains for Elsa’s room. I had mentally written the blog post—how I was going to post pictures of the cute, stylish, Pottery Barn kids style curtains that I whipped up on my sewing machine, how I would tell you all about how they were so easy that I did them one afternoon while Elsa was sleeping. (The pattern did say that they were so simple that you could make curtains for a whole apartment in an evening.) The first problem with that is that Elsa barely sleeps during the day. The second problem is that I spent hours on those curtains and it would be generous to say that they are almost average looking. They ended up needing a lining and that added quite a bit to my sewing job. The seams are a little sloppy, the lining isn’t quite right and if I worked for Martha Stewart, she would so fire me. The curtains will do for now because I’m so sick of curtains that not only could I not make any more, but I don’t think I could even go into a store to buy any right now.
My second issue right now is that I have had a horrible hair cut. No, it doesn’t have an unfortunate kindergardener playing with scissors look to it (which might make this all so much easier). In fact, at first glance it doesn’t look at all bad. I hate my hair right now because I have to fiddle with it to keep it from looking like a puffy mullet. It requires a hair dryer, several brushes, about three different hair products and a solid 20 minutes of work. After that, it looks super cute. Did I mention my baby who doesn’t sleep much? She doesn’t always leave me that kind of time to fiddle with my hair. If I don’t fiddle with it, I have this mass of hair that kind of falls in my face and looks generally unattractive. I’m pulling out all my barrettes, rubber bands and head bands. I may even be forced to wear a baseball cap for the next few weeks. I NEVER wear baseball caps. My biggest problem with all this is that I now need to decide what to do at my next hair cut. Do I get the same cut and resign myself to the time and effort required to look good or do I trim he bottom and let my hair get long and stringy so that it is plain, but easy?

1. Post a picture of your super cute hair all done up.
2. Set Elsa in her bouncy seat next to you in the bathroom and let her watch you do your hair!
