Pizza, you win.

I've been trying to make homemade pizza for years. I've managed to fail at it a different way every time. Usually the crust is the problem, but sometimes I've messed up the toppings, the sauce or the cheese. It's usually good enough that it counts as a meal, but I've never managed pizza that comes close something from my favorite restaurants.

And still I keep trying. Even though I'm a fairly good cook, I obsess over pizza. I'm always looking for recipes and ways to make it turn out better. I've changed pans, oven temperatures, sauces, spices and everything else I can think of. And I never enjoy my own pizza because I'm irritated at how it turned out.

Recently I've turned out some good roasts. I made some beef stroganoff (from the roast leftovers--YEAH!) that was positively divine. I can make a decent hamburger. I have some great soup recipes. I even found a great recipe for lettuce wraps. There were several steps involved in making them (like pizza), but they actually turned out well (not like pizza). So, pizza, I give up. You win. There are enough good recipes for me to cook that I'm not going to keep trying. When we want pizza, we're paying someone else to make it. When I cook at home, I'm making something that will turn out. Like beef stroganoff.

Too funny! We've just started trying our hand at homemade pizza. Good to know that it's not as easy as it seems it should be.
