This and that

Elsa wanted to wear her sparkly red shoes to school today.  I told her that they are just too small.  She put them in her pink satin Hello Kitty bag and took them along "just in case."  I'm going to have to hide those shoes.  This is the SECOND time in her short life that I have hidden fancy red shoes from her.

Anna is a good baby and generally quite happy as long as she is fed and in a clean diaper.  She seems to be especially happy in the kitchen.  (Yeah--I may end up with another cook.)

I found an itunes podcast of stories.  We sat on the couch listening to a story yesterday instead of watching TV.  (Double yeah!)  It sure took a lot of technology to get back to radio program days.  Makes me think.  And makes me remember that the thing I hate most about maternity leave is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on TV.

Elsa has received two big sister t shirts since Anna was born.  She is also getting ready to move to a preschool room from the toddler room at school and gets to visit periodically to get ready for the permanent move.  She thinks that she gets to go play with the big kids on the days that she wears her big sister t shirts, so she made a special request to wear one today.  The big kids were on a field trip, so despite her outfit, she had to stay and play with the little kids.

I finally got Elsa to give up the pjs she's worn for the last six months by taking her to Target and letting her pick out a pair on her own.  She didn't get the ones I liked the best (isn't that the way daughters are?), but she's out of those winter snowman pjs (mostly) and I'm glad.  Her teacher at school suggested I buy an identical pair so that I'm always able to have one pair in the wash.  I hadn't thought of that, but that's just the kind of thing I've learned from her.  I hope I learn as much from Elsa's next teacher!

I tried to get Elsa to play in the backyard yesterday.  She wanted to play in the front--where we have several salvia plants--and watch the bees.  "Mom, I want to see the bees pollinate."  We got that word from Sesame Street in the morning and managed to use it a lot yesterday.

We have been spending some time in our backyard.  I cut some roses and Elsa wanted to have them.  Our conversation went like this...

Mom, smell this flower.  It smells just like a rose.
Elsa, it IS a rose.
No, Mom, it's a flower.

Elsa is wearing her new pjs!

Anna is riding in our "new to us" stroller.

Story time before bed

Elsa--are you comfortable enough to really be napping?

LOVE the PJ's Miss Elsa and LOVE the spikey do that Miss Anna is sporting in that first picture - reminds me of Sarah's hair when she was that age - I would give her extra baths just to have her hair stand straight up! =>
