Here are the reasons that I am calling today a success:
1. I decided that I wanted to paint with the girls and Elsa and I ended up making our own bathtub paint.
2. We took a good, long walk today on my favorite loop through our neighborhood.
3. We played outside in the morning and ran through the sprinklers a little.
4. Anna took a long nap.
5. We stayed inside this afternoon because it was beyond hot, but Elsa sat in the bathtub and played with the paint we made.
6. When she finished painting, she said to me (and I quote): "Mom, will you pass me your sponge? I want to clean the bathtub." (That one alone was enough to make me love this day.)
7. Elsa helped me get dinner made.
8. We sat on the floor and Elsa said, "Mom, do you mind if I rub your feet?" A foot massage is my idea of a pretty heavenly afternoon.
9. Stephanie called and I got to talk with her for quite a while.
10. I was smart enough to realize that, with good planning, I could cook the entire dinner--chicken, cornbread, corn--on the grill. It all turned out delicious.
11. Anna ate every last corn kernel off of a half ear of corn. She ate cottage cheese. She ate two pieces of cornbread. She ate several bites of chicken (this was the first time I've ever seen her eat meat). I think it might have been the most balanced meal I've seen her eat since she started eating solid food.
12. Elsa ate a fairly good meal, too.
13. I'm reading a good book.
