It all started with Pinterest.
There were recipes and patterns and I bake all the time, so how hard could it be?
The dough was THE FIRST THING I've ever made that made me want a stand mixer. (It was that heavy.) Derek and I had to search the house for a variety of rulers so that we could draw the pattern. One afternoon was devoted to rolling out, baking and recutting the pieces. On a different day, the girls and I finally started to put the pieces together. I had to HOLD THE ROOF in place for a few minutes while the icing hardened. (Not super convenient at dinner time on a weeknight.) Finally, it was time to decorate it.
The final product is not Pinterest worthy.
It was, however, the subject of a kindergarten story and I will take that any day over Pinterest.
