Sixty Degrees

It is sixty degrees outside today. That might be the most perfect temperature there is. When I got home from school this afternoon, I put on jeans and a hoodie, got the leash for the dog and set out to explore my new neighborhood. Except for the fact that Tom REALLY needs to learn to walk on a leash, it was perfect. When our part of town was built, sidewalks were optional (therefore we have no sidewalk in our yard), so Tom and I had to do a lot of our walking in the street. Many of the homes around us are quite beautiful, so I completely enjoyed the scenery. It was also the first time, in all my years of walking through neighborhoods, that several people called out hello to me from their yards. I've had people pass me and say "hello," but I've never had anyone yell it from the front porch. That's pretty cool. I checked our house's walk score and it's only about a 50%. I don't think the people at Walk Score place enough emphasis on friendly neighbors.
