I spent this last weekend in Colorado. My main reason for being there was the wedding of a dear friend, but in three short days, I managed to get in quite a bit of activity and drive past EVERY school I worked in and EVERY apartment I lived in. (I didn't really need to see them all again, but errands and roadblocks conspired to get me all those places.) September is a tough time to return to Colorado, because the normally great Colorado weather is picture perfect in September. It brought tears to my eyes to drive along familiar roads and look at the hills, the Flatirons, the perfectly blue sky and the trees that are just days from starting to turn fall colors. I even had to ask someone if this was a particularly great September, or if they were all this way and I had just forgotten.
In the course of the weekend, I got to see my condo, which I haven't set a toe in in five years. It was a little
weird to walk into my own home and see someone else's furniture and pictures there. It was also weird to see that my last set of renters painted my eggplant purple kitchen pumpkin orange. (Which does look good, and, as someone pointed out, is still a food-themed color.) All in all, it looks good and I was glad that I squeezed in time to see it. I also got to visit with some other dear friends and spend some quality time catching up.
So, thank you to T and T for inviting me to your wedding. I feel blessed to have shared to first day of your married life with you and I feel lucky to have seen so many special people. Oh, and the fact that the food at the wedding was divine, well that just put it over the top.
