I spent yesterday morning in observing in court for my interpreting class. If you really want to see some humanity, sit in a county court courtroom for a morning.
I got pooped on twice today. The first time was while I was shopping. In a white skirt. Forty miles from home. Without a change of clothes. (Luckily, Aunt Stacy and Carter don't get grossed out easily. In Elsa's defense, it wasn't too bad and the stroller completely covered the spot.)
Shopping for a baby is a totally foreign experience for me. We got a lot of little baby clothes as gifts and I've bought some other clothes at garage sales. Today was the first day I went somewhere and bought clothes with tags on them. It was overwhelming--I didn't know anything about the prices or the sizing. And I'm trying to guess at how fast Elsa is growing. Which brings me to the next point....
At her last doctor appointment--about two weeks ago--our Elsa weighed in at 13 pounds and a half ounce, 24.5 inches long, with a head circumference of 16.25 inches. That puts her at the 95th percentile for everything. Some days I feel like, at the rate she's growing, we'll be sharing clothes by next year. I really notice how much she's grown when I look at her face. It has filled out and she has the chubbiest cheeks.
I think Elsa liked shopping. We were able to borrow a stroller from Aunt Stacy, so the ride was much smoother than when we usually go out. There was a lot to look at and looking at things--anything and everything--is Elsa's favorite pass time right now. She also spends a lot of her waking hours talking to me. She was pretty quiet while we were out. As soon as we got home and she ate some, Elsa started cooing and squawking. I think she was telling me how much she liked getting to hang out with Aunt Stacy and Carter.
